Social media is constantly evolving into something more advanced each and every day. The future of social media is unknown. I believe social media in the future will be much more advanced in ways that we cannot possibly predict. I would almost guarantee there will be new platforms developed. It is difficult to say if the same platforms that exist today will still remain as some of the most popular platforms. Additionally, it is evident how quickly a new platform can become popular. TikTok is a perfect example of one of these platforms, so I’m sure others will be developed and take off quickly as well.

The only platforms that I could potentially see remaining popular are Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter because of the generation that they took off in. My generation is so focused on social media and just on their phones in general. Generation Z will always be more tech savvy than prior generations, so I could see those platforms potentially sticking around for awhile.

It will be very interesting to see how social media advances in the coming years and what new platforms will be like. I am sure I will have the opportunity to experience these advances in the near future because of the career path I want to go down. I am not looking forward to the time I do not know how to work social media platforms or technology because I will be considered too old.
